Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced autonomy, AI, computer vision, and sensor fusion. The Imaging team builds and fields state-of-the-art camera and sensor systems deployed to solve real security challenges, owning the full stack from bare-metal hardware and firmware to networked services and cloud integrations. This Senior Deployed Software Engineer role focuses on mission-critical software for fielded imaging systems. Unlike pure product development, you'll spend meaningful time keeping deployed systems alive, triaging issues across the full stack, and serving as a technical representative in customer integrations. The work is varied: you might extend a gRPC service in the morning, diagnose a time-sync issue on a deployed device over the phone with a field operator in the afternoon, and travel to support a customer integration the following week. Key responsibilities include owning the health and uptime of deployed imaging systems; building and maintaining production services that run on edge-compute devices in austere environments; supporting field operators and non-technical users to diagnose and resolve issues; serving as a subject matter expert in integrations with other products and teams; developing broad fluency across hardware, firmware, networking, and software stacks; and collaborating across firmware, hardware, and platform engineering teams. Travel is expected approximately 15% of the time for field testing and customer integrations. Required qualifications: 5+ years of software development with meaningful production responsibility (owning systems post-launch, not just shipping features); strong Python and C++ skills; 5+ years working in Linux-based environments including bare-metal hardware; demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve issues across system boundaries without full visibility into every component; strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical problems to non-technical audiences; willingness to travel 15% of the time; and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance. Preferred qualifications include experience with gRPC or similar RPC frameworks, familiarity with systems service management and observability practices on Linux, React/JSX experience, familiarity with Nix or NixOS, and experience supporting fielded or deployed systems.
