Northwood Space is a modern space infrastructure company building a global network of phased array ground stations for satellite communications supporting national security, global connectivity, and disaster response. The company designs, builds, and rapidly deploys vertically integrated systems for next-generation space missions.
As Senior Demand Planner, you will lead material planning and inventory execution across production and new product introduction (NPI) programs. You own end-to-end material planning activities, translating demand forecasts, production schedules, and engineering changes into actionable procurement and inventory strategies.
Key responsibilities include executing MRP planning to ensure material availability for production, NPI, and engineering builds; analyzing demand, inventory, supplier lead times, and schedules to develop forecasts and identify shortages; optimizing inventory performance by maintaining planning parameters and supporting product transitions; performing root cause analysis on material discrepancies and planning exceptions; maintaining accurate ERP data including item masters, BOMs, and planning parameters; and developing dashboards to monitor material availability and supplier performance. You will also mentor junior planners and drive inventory optimization initiatives.
You will work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Mission Management, and Sites teams to ensure material availability while balancing inventory investment and production priorities. The role requires proactive identification of material constraints, development of mitigation plans, and data-driven decision-making in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
Required qualifications: 5+ years in material planning, production planning, supply chain, or inventory management in manufacturing; strong MRP/ERP system knowledge; advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, data analysis); cross-functional collaboration experience with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Operations.
Preferred: startup or high-growth manufacturing experience; aerospace, satellite, telecommunications, electronics, or defense industry background; familiarity with complex hardware systems (PCBAs, electromechanical assemblies); experience with Manufacturo MRP, SQL, or data visualization tools; inventory optimization and demand forecasting expertise.
