We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join our Infrastructure team. You will design, construct, install, and maintain large-scale relational databases that power Tabby's growing business. Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and maintain large relational databases at scale
- Ensure database integrity and security through robust backup and recovery procedures
- Implement and manage disaster recovery and failover systems
- Monitor database performance, apply patches, and manage version upgrades
- Optimize queries and collaborate with development teams on database optimization
- Set up and maintain database replication, clustering, mirroring, and high-availability strategies
- Manage tools such as PgBouncer and modern monitoring systems
- Stay current with latest database technologies and best practices
You will work on challenging technical problems and drive improvements in database reliability and performance across our infrastructure.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (required): setup, replication, upgrades, monitoring, and performance tuning
- Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries
- Experience with backup and recovery strategies, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR)
- Strong understanding of database design, documentation, and development best practices
- Working knowledge of scripting/programming languages (Bash, Python, or Go)
- Experience managing DBaaS solutions on cloud platforms (GCP or AWS preferred)
- Experience migrating large databases across cloud platforms
- Familiarity with modern DevOps practices (Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm)
- Experience with real-time data streaming technologies (Debezium or Flink)
- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities
- Professional proficiency in English (B2 level or higher)
- Experience with ClickHouse is a plus
- Relevant certifications or formal training in database management are a plus
