Join Showpad's Data Platform team as a Senior Data Platform Engineer to architect and build scalable, cloud-native data infrastructure. You'll design and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines on AWS, implement Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK, and establish monitoring, alerting, and logging systems. The role involves championing data governance, security (GDPR, CCPA), and quality best practices across the organization.
You'll take technical leadership on platform initiatives, collaborating closely with Data Science, Analytics, and Engineering teams. Responsibilities include automating infrastructure provisioning, optimizing data flow across systems, and mentoring team members on data engineering best practices. You'll help shape the company's data strategy and bring new ideas to life, working on systems that power business insights and drive a data-first culture.
The ideal candidate has built and operated scalable data platforms in the cloud (AWS preferred) and understands the difference between adequate solutions and engineering excellence. You're an analytical problem-solver who communicates complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong technical skills in TypeScript and/or Python, AWS services (S3, Glue, Lake Formation, Lambda, Redshift, Step Functions, IAM, VPC), and Infrastructure as Code are essential. Experience with data lake architectures (Medallion/zoned), Parquet, Delta Lake, schema evolution, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines is required.
Bonus qualifications include strong SQL skills, hands-on dbt experience, familiarity with data catalogs or governance tools, and experience with streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Spark Streaming). You're a self-starter who takes initiative, owns your work, and drives projects to completion. The role is based in Bucharest with a hybrid arrangement (2 days per week in office).
