ARX Robotics is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the development of simulation and synthetic data infrastructure for autonomous ground vehicles. In this role, you will be at the core of the autonomy stack, creating high-fidelity virtual environments and synthetic sensor data that enable perception and autonomy algorithms to train, test, and validate at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and building rich, realistic simulation environments for autonomous off-road vehicles using tools like Unity
- Generating high-fidelity synthetic sensor data (cameras, LiDAR) to train perception algorithms
- Developing complex virtual scenarios including dense forests, rugged terrain, and adverse weather conditions
- Creating sophisticated data augmentation and domain randomization pipelines for model robustness
- Implementing and refining Sim2Real strategies to bridge the gap between simulation and real-world performance
- Integrating simulation modules with ROS/ROS2-based robotics software stacks
- Collaborating with AI and robotics teams to enhance synthetic data quality and accelerate model development
You bring strong proficiency in Python or C++ with hands-on ROS2 experience. You have proven experience developing simulation environments with solid computer graphics foundations. Deep familiarity with camera and LiDAR sensors, synthetic data generation, and Sim2Real methodologies is essential. Experience with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow) or sensor fusion is a plus.
