Salary: USD 192,000 - 240,000 / annual
Datadog is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Revenue Data Engineering team, which designs, builds, and operates data pipelines that quantify customer usage across all Datadog products. This role focuses on the Revenue Data Processing platform, which handles billing and cost attribution for all Datadog products, processing terabytes of data daily to power revenue-critical systems.
You will own meaningful parts of a large-scale, mission-critical processing platform, driving architectural improvements, building new billing capabilities, and maintaining the high reliability standards that downstream consumers depend on. Key responsibilities include designing and building high-throughput data pipelines for billing and cost attribution, driving platform improvements such as latency reduction and Spark optimization, owning root-cause investigations on billing accuracy issues in collaboration with Finance and Product teams, and contributing to new billing features.
The role involves working across Python and Scala, with technologies including Spark, Airflow, Trino, and Apache Iceberg. You will participate in on-call rotation, maintain production system reliability, and contribute to engineering standards and team technical culture.
Required qualifications include significant experience building and operating production data pipelines at scale using Spark and Airflow, comfort owning complex cross-functional investigations, ability to balance feature delivery with platform health and technical debt, strong analytical instincts with rigor around data correctness, and the ability to work in ambiguous environments while driving stakeholder alignment. Bonus experience includes Apache Iceberg or Lakehouse architectures, billing/metering/financial data systems, and low-latency data serving or real-time aggregation pipelines.
