Salary: USD 116,500 - 169,000 / annual
Moody's Cybersecurity Data Management team is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and operate scalable data platforms that power security event collection, transformation, and analysis across the organization. You will design and build ETL processes and cloud infrastructure that ingest, normalize, and route security event data at scale, supporting cybersecurity detection and response, regulatory compliance, and risk metrics.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build scalable data pipelines and ETL processes that handle high-volume security event data
- Develop and maintain data warehouse and SQL datastore solutions supporting cybersecurity, audit, and compliance programs
- Create infrastructure as code (IaC) using Pulumi, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK to provision and manage cloud resources
- Develop automation and tooling in Python and/or JavaScript to improve data quality, operational efficiency, and platform reliability
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipeline performance, scalability, cost, and reliability
- Partner with cybersecurity, compliance, and engineering teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions
- Document data flows, schemas, operational processes, and technical implementations
Required qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, database administration, or related discipline
- Strong experience designing, building, and supporting ETL processes and scalable data pipelines
- Proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with relational databases and data warehouse technologies
- Experience developing automation using Python and/or JavaScript
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing cloud-based solutions in AWS
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Pulumi, CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar)
- Strong understanding of data modeling, schema design, data quality, and normalization best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with Splunk, Cribl, observability platforms, or large-scale operational data environments
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Data Analytics Specialty, or similar)
- Relevant cloud, data engineering, or cybersecurity certifications
