Okta is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its Technology Data & Intelligence organization in Bengaluru. The team is on a mission to accelerate Okta's scale and growth by building platforms and capabilities used across sales, marketing, engineering, finance, product, and operations.
In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions that support the organization's AI-driven future. You'll collaborate with data engineers, analysts, scientists, and other engineers to ensure data availability, integrity, and security across the enterprise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop scalable data platforms using AWS, Snowflake, dbt, and Databricks
- Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform to ensure consistent, reproducible environments
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data platform applications using GitHub and GitLab
- Engineer robust data pipelines that fuel high-performance AI and ML models with reliable, feature-rich datasets
- Implement comprehensive data governance frameworks to ensure data lineage, compliance, and quality
- Conduct vulnerability scans, apply patches, and ensure data security meets industry standards
- Explore cutting-edge tools like data engineer agents to automate routine tasks and enable high-leverage custom pipeline work
- Partner with product managers, UX designers, and other developers to deliver end-to-end solutions
Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative field
- 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or full-stack roles
- Expert-level knowledge of SQL and ETL tools (Airflow, dbt)
- Hands-on experience with relational/columnar MPP databases (Snowflake, Redshift)
- Hands-on experience with AWS (S3, Lambda, EMR, EC2, EKS)
- Experience with lakehouse architectures (Databricks) and file formats (Iceberg, Delta)
- Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
