Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Data and Operations Software Engineer to join the Software Engineering team's Data and Operations Software group. The company is on a mission to deliver commercially viable fusion energy and has raised $4 billion in capital since 2018, positioning itself as the world's largest and leading fusion company.
In this role, you will be a backend software engineer responsible for developing APIs and distributed systems that enable data acquisition, access, and processing across the organization. You'll work at the intersection of physics and software engineering, collaborating closely with physicists and other software engineers to build robust, high-performance data systems tailored to the unique demands of fusion energy research and development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing backend APIs and distributed systems for data services
- Developing data acquisition and processing pipelines
- Creating scalable solutions for accessing and managing company data
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including physicists and software engineers
- Ensuring system reliability, performance, and security
