Astronomer is seeking a Senior Customer Reliability Engineer (Infrastructure) to join its Customer Reliability Engineering (CRE) team in Hyderabad. The CRE team is responsible for the success and reliability of customers' usage of Astronomer's managed Airflow service, a unified DataOps platform trusted by over 800 leading enterprises.
In this role, you will focus on the reliability of underlying cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters. You will respond to incidents raised by customers or detected by monitoring systems, troubleshoot customer environments, and implement permanent solutions. As an infrastructure specialist, you will own observability platforms and have the opportunity to drive meaningful improvements to product reliability and customer experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing solutions to help customers succeed with Astronomer products
- Troubleshooting customer environments and active incident triaging
- Building and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and automation systems
- Contributing to product architecture decisions
- Owning the customer experience by working directly with customers to prioritize issues, meet SLAs, and provide guidance on production deployments
- Enhancing customer documentation
- Participating in 24x7 coverage through a 6-hour pager rotation during work hours and paid on-call rotation for weekend coverage
- Working within a fully distributed, remote-capable team
You will work with modern, cloud-native products that integrate with dozens of systems across AWS, GCP, and Azure environments. This is a directly customer-facing role offering exposure to diverse problems and requirements across multiple industries and cloud providers.
Required qualifications: 5+ years experience with large-scale cloud infrastructures, 3+ years with Kubernetes, production distributed systems experience with at least one major cloud provider, strong networking and Linux expertise, observability tools knowledge, customer issue handling experience, strong communication skills, and DevOps/CI/CD background. Python scripting and troubleshooting skills are essential.
Bonus qualifications include SRE experience, Kubernetes Custom Resources, Azure depth, Airflow/Big Data orchestration knowledge, and Infrastructure-as-Code experience.
