Aledade, the largest network of independent primary care in the US, is seeking a Senior Counsel to join its Privacy Team, reporting to the Privacy Officer and Associate General Counsel. This is an independent contributor role focused on owning discrete privacy verticals end-to-end with minimal oversight, while serving as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders on evolving privacy and AI regulatory issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage and own privacy verticals, driving projects from issue-spotting through resolution
- Provide clear, practical legal advice to internal stakeholders on privacy laws applicable to US healthcare organizations, including HIPAA, state privacy and data breach notification laws, and federal/state requirements
- Advise business, product, and engineering teams on artificial intelligence use, including AI-specific laws, governance frameworks, and responsible AI practices
- Act as subject matter expert for escalated privacy review of vendor agreements, data use agreements, and business associate agreements
- Support development and maintenance of privacy policies, procedures, and training materials
- Partner cross-functionally with Compliance, Security, IT, and business teams to identify and implement risk-based privacy solutions
- Monitor developments in privacy and AI law and proactively communicate implications to stakeholders
- Support responses to privacy incidents, regulatory inquiries, and audits
- Use AI tools effectively in daily legal work to improve efficiency and quality

Requirements:
- J.D. and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing
- Minimum 6 years of total legal experience, including at least 2 years at a law firm with substantive privacy or healthcare regulatory work
- Prior experience advising healthcare organizations or clients on privacy, regulatory, or compliance matters (required)
- Working knowledge of HIPAA and other U.S. privacy laws applicable to healthcare entities
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment with limited supervision
- Self-starter mindset with genuine willingness to take ownership of projects and privacy verticals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-lawyers
- Comfort and enthusiasm using AI tools (generative AI, legal research and drafting assistants) as part of daily legal workflow
- Interest in and willingness to advise on AI governance and AI-related legal and regulatory issues as they intersect with privacy
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to build trust with stakeholders across legal, compliance, product, and business teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or AIGP
- Familiarity with privacy program frameworks (e.g., NIST Privacy Framework) and/or AI governance frameworks (e.g., NIST AI RMF)
- Prior in-house experience, particularly within healthcare or health tech industry
