Dandy is transforming the dental industry by building an operating system for dental practices globally. The company is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead software development for next-generation Special Purpose Machines (SPM) used in manufacturing custom-made prosthetics.
In this role, you will serve as the overall owner of the SCADA layer for Dandy's manufacturing machines and act as the technical point of contact internally and externally for communication and control architecture. You'll collaborate with internal engineering teams and third-party integrators to build and scale machines from proof-of-concept through high-volume production. A key responsibility is defining and leading the implementation of a standardized platform for all machine software, supporting testing, observability, release management, and related functions.
You'll perform hands-on work with full-scale production equipment, from initial commissioning through mass production ramp. This is a technical leadership role requiring collaboration across diverse engineering disciplines throughout the organization.
Required qualifications include 8+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in a high-growth startup environment. You must have substantial experience in manufacturing software, including SCADA systems (ideally Ignition) and PLC programming. Working knowledge of DevOps and full-stack development is essential. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, self-managing, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
The role requires 50% travel to Dandy's Indianapolis and Provo locations. This is a full-time position offering comprehensive benefits including healthcare, dental, mental health support, parental planning resources, retirement savings, and generous paid time off.
