Salary: USD 146,000 - 194,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Component Engineer for its Electronic Warfare (EW) team. This role focuses on component qualification, parts engineering, and supply chain risk management for next-generation electronic warfare platforms.
You will own the full lifecycle of component qualification for new parts and new sources across electrical and mechanical commodities, including semiconductors, RF components, passives, connectors, PCB/PCBA, switches, fasteners, seals, adhesives, and other materials. You'll define and execute comprehensive qualification plans to ensure compatibility and compliance for production and deployed EW systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Proactively identifying critical single-source components across active EW designs and driving second-source qualification before it becomes urgent, owning the technical trade, test plan, and qualification process
- Performing form-fit-function analysis on candidate alternates and presenting findings to the change control board for approval and implementation
- Embedding with EW design engineers from architecture through NPI (new product introduction), influencing component selection while designs are still open, and reviewing schematics and BOMs for parts that carry avoidable supply or reliability risk
- Serving as the standing component resource for the design team, driving component commonality and reuse across EW programs and product configurations
- Owning the engineering-side response to obsolescence: monitoring lifecycle status across active BOMs, triaging EOL and PCN notices, and driving technical resolution
- Collaborating directly with design engineers, sourcing/supply chain teams, and suppliers to ensure optimal component selection and risk mitigation
This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise in component engineering and materials/processes for electronic and electromechanical hardware. You'll work in a fast-paced, high-rigor environment supporting mission-critical defense systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent
- 5+ years in component engineering, parts engineering, or materials and processes role supporting electronic and electromechanical hardware
- Hands-on experience qualifying alternate and second sources for production hardware, including form-fit-function assessment
- Working knowledge of both electrical component families and mechanical/electromechanical hardware
- Experience working directly with design engineers, sourcing/supply chain, and suppliers
- Experience with products used in demanding environments (defense, aerospace, or comparable high-rigor industry)
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with RF and microwave components and printed circuit board materials
- Familiarity with developing high-tech products in a high-mix, low-volume environment
- Exposure to working in a fast-paced, start-up environment
