Salary: USD 204,000 - 255,000 / annual
Airbnb seeks a Senior Compensation Partner to own compensation strategy for the Technology organization, covering Engineering, Infrastructure, ML/AI, and Data Science functions. You will serve as the primary Total Rewards advisor to Technology leadership and the compensation point of contact for Talent Directors and Recruiting, defining how Airbnb competes for AI, ML, and frontier engineering talent.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as senior compensation advisor to Technology leadership, owning contested offers, retention actions, annual equity awards, and precedent-setting leveling exceptions
- Provide direction and counsel to multiple Talent Directors and carry recommendations to senior leadership across Talent, Finance, and Legal
- Own Airbnb's market positioning for technical talent, including benchmarking methodology that supplements survey data with recruiting signals, role evaluation frameworks, and survey participation strategy
- Help design, execute, and hold accountability for complex global compensation programs, including cost, budget, and ROI
- Construct financial models projecting long-term implications of compensation strategy for executive and board-level planning
- Partner with regional Total Rewards Partners across EMEA, APAC, and India to maintain consistent global technical compensation view
- Lead compensation cycle strategy for Technology end-to-end, from budget modeling through manager enablement and executive rollups
- Cultivate external networks across survey providers, consultancies, and peer companies to surface market intelligence
- Build compensation models, tools, and frameworks the broader Compensation team relies on, including AI-powered benchmarking and offer generation
- Mentor compensation partners and analysts, building enablement materials for tech leaders
You will work closely with cross-functional partners including Talent Directors, Recruiting, People Analytics, Finance, and Legal, holding a global view of how Airbnb pays technical talent across all markets.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 12+ years of compensation or analytics experience, ideally supporting technical talent at a high-growth technology company in a fast-paced, global environment, with familiarity with the AI/ML talent market
- Proven track record as primary compensation advisor to executive or C-level technical leaders, with ownership of highest-stakes compensation decisions
- Demonstrated ownership of design and strategy of complex, global compensation programs with financial accountability for program cost and budget
- Breadth across full compensation discipline: base pay structure design, equity and incentive design, job architecture and leveling, and pay equity
- Expert knowledge of third-party survey methodologies (Radford/Mercer/WTW), with ability to define benchmarking methodology and build pay structures across geographies and functions
- Expert analytical skills including advanced Excel/Google Sheets and working proficiency in SQL, Python, or R; experience with Workday Advanced Compensation, Tableau, or comparable BI and compensation platforms
- Active use of AI tools and technologies to accelerate workflows, ideally including hands-on experience building AI-powered tools or data products
- Strong communication skills with proven ability to influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders and present complex analysis to executive and board-level audiences
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Data Science) or equivalent experience
- Must be based in San Francisco, California due to the nature of the position
