Salary: USD 166,600 - 208,300 / annual
Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. The company is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to design and build the cloud security infrastructure that protects billions of dollars in customer assets while enabling rapid engineering velocity.
In this role, you will be responsible for defining Mercury's cloud security posture, implementing zero-trust architecture, and automating security controls across AWS infrastructure. You'll work cross-functionally with infrastructure and engineering teams to address security, privacy, and compliance challenges, with a focus on governance frameworks (NIST CSF, SOC2, PCI-DSS, GLBA, ISO27018, FFIEC, SOX) relevant to fintech operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and defining cloud security posture and cyber resilience initiatives
- Designing AWS cloud architecture around least-privilege access, resilience, and maintainability
- Automating cloud security controls to minimize threats, vulnerabilities, and risk
- Collaborating with teams to address remote access security in a remote-first environment
- Implementing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) security practices
- Advising on governance, risk, and compliance as it relates to cloud engineering
You bring 5+ years of experience in cloud security, networking, information security, or related fields. You have deep knowledge of security frameworks, attack vectors, and troubleshooting methodologies. AWS certifications are encouraged. You're a strong problem-solver who can remain calm and competent under pressure, with a proven track record of continuous learning and growth.
