AlphaSense is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to strengthen the security posture of its cloud infrastructure. You'll join a high-autonomy cloud security team responsible for designing, implementing, and operating security controls across AWS and GCP environments serving over 6,000 enterprise customers, including a majority of the S&P 500.
In this hands-on role, you will own security projects end-to-end—from problem identification through shipping and operating controls—with measurable impact. Key responsibilities include designing and automating security controls for containerized and Kubernetes environments, maintaining and scaling cloud security tooling (CSPM, vulnerability platforms), investigating and remediating cloud infrastructure vulnerabilities, and designing zero-trust access controls. You'll partner with incident response teams to build detections, develop security standards and guardrails for engineering teams, embed controls into CI/CD and GitOps workflows, and work with compliance teams to translate ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR requirements into practical technical controls.
Additionally, you'll conduct architecture reviews, threat modeling, and code reviews to identify security risks, collaborating closely with engineering and product teams. This role offers strong independence to plan and drive security improvements with room to select your focus within team responsibilities.
Required qualifications include 5+ years in cloud security or security-focused infrastructure/DevOps engineering, hands-on experience securing containerized environments and Kubernetes, strong AWS knowledge (ideally GCP as well), proficiency in programming/scripting (e.g., Python) for automation, experience with cloud security posture management tools, and demonstrated ability to own problems end-to-end with minimal direction. Nice-to-have skills include multi-cloud experience, CI/CD security integration, threat modeling expertise, compliance-to-controls translation experience, security community contributions, and relevant certifications like CKS.
