The company's flagship product, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor designed for rapid deployment to hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases, capable of running for up to 5 years without refueling. Founded in 2020, Radiant is preparing for its first reactor test at Idaho National Laboratory with initial customer deliveries planned for 2028.
As Senior Civil Engineer for Concrete Structures, you will own the design and development of critical concrete and precast structural systems supporting Radiant's manufacturing and deployment infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with significant scope and autonomy.
Key responsibilities include: designing spent fuel dry cask storage systems, factory and facility foundations, and precast concrete elements; conducting trade studies and structural analysis under static, thermal, and seismic loading conditions; performing detailed reinforced and precast concrete design using both hand calculations and finite element analysis tools (Abaqus, Ansys, SAP2000); developing and executing construction, fabrication, and test plans; managing bills of materials; identifying and developing suppliers and fabricators; owning subassembly design, fabrication, and test schedules; conducting FMEA risk analysis for concrete structural subsystems; and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering; 5+ years designing concrete or reinforced concrete structures; 4+ years performing structural analysis using hand calculations and FEA tools.
Desired qualifications include active PE license, experience with ACI 318 reinforced concrete design codes, precast concrete systems design, dry cask storage or spent nuclear fuel storage systems, seismic design/qualification, nuclear facility structural design, thermal expansion/gradient resolution, GD&T and construction tolerancing, and text-based software development tools.
