Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft.
The Direct Customer Onboarding (CDD) team is seeking an experienced Senior CDD Risk Analyst to lead quality improvements, manage high-complexity enterprise merchant onboarding cases, and serve as a subject matter expert and mentor. This is a senior individual contributor role with significant mentorship responsibilities but no direct people management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead autonomous onboarding for Adyen's most strategic and complex enterprise merchants, conducting multi-jurisdictional due diligence on opaque corporate structures and mitigating risks related to PEPs, sanctions, adverse media, and high-risk industries.
• Translate complex second-line compliance policies into actionable first-line operational procedures and lead calibration sessions to ensure consistent team application.
• Maintain 100% quality assurance on personal case execution while serving as key escalation point and executing quality control processes at team level. Analyze case review trends to identify systemic gaps, update SOPs, and facilitate team calibration and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Operations to optimize workflows, improve tooling, and automate manual controls.
• Partner with Commercial, Sales, and Account Management during high-stakes negotiations and merchant escalations. Actively participate in merchant and commercial calls to understand business setups, explain compliance requirements, and design practical compliant pathways.
• Mentor CDD analysts as a go-to expert for complex case guidance. Develop and lead training sessions on emerging risk typologies and regulatory changes.
Requirements:
• 6+ years of experience in CDD, KYC/EDD operations, or Second Line Risk/Compliance roles within FinTech, Payment Service Providers, or Financial Institutions. Prior experience as Quality Checker or QA auditor in 1st/2nd Line functions highly preferred.
• Proven mastery in evaluating complex risk scenarios beyond standard checklists, including layered corporate structures, offshore/nominee entities, UBO transparency, high-risk business models, scheme rules, and multi-jurisdictional AML/CFT standards (DNB, FCA, FinCEN, MAS, RBI, AUSTRAC).
• Proven track record navigating complex commercial dynamics and high-pressure go-live targets without compromising risk controls. Skilled at negotiating and implementing concrete risk-mitigation solutions.
• Experience in direct customer interactions and merchant-facing roles, effectively bridging compliance requirements with commercial discussions.
• Analytical mindset proficient in leveraging data and analytics to identify root causes of onboarding friction and contribute to automation and tooling enhancements.
• High autonomy, resilience, and clear written and verbal communication skills. Eager to share knowledge, coach colleagues, and collaborate across operational, second-line, and commercial teams.
