Belvedere Trading is a leading proprietary trading firm headquartered in downtown Chicago. The company specializes in market-making across commodities, interest rates, ETFs, and equity index options. The firm is built on high-performance proprietary technology and continually invests in re-engineering and optimizing its systems to maintain competitive advantage.
You will design and build high-performance market data systems that ingest and process raw market data feeds, implement exchange protocols (CME, Cboe), and optimize for concurrency, throughput, and ultra-low latency performance. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on solving complex technical challenges at the intersection of technology, mathematics, and finance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable, extensible trading applications deployable across asset classes
- Work alongside traders to develop and deliver scalable, highly available software systems
- Improve efficiency and effectiveness of the development process while reducing operational risk
- Maintain, support, and troubleshoot critical trading applications
- Deliver quality systems through automated testing and peer code review
- Apply industry knowledge and technical skills in innovative ways
- Encourage best practices throughout the development process
- Coach and mentor junior engineers while learning from peers
You will collaborate closely with traders, quantitative researchers, analysts, and other engineers. The ideal candidate has experience building automated trading systems and a proven track record of developing scalable, architecturally sound solutions that directly support business objectives.
Work schedule involves regular attendance during standard business hours with occasional on-site presence prior to market open. No travel required. All interviews conducted virtually.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of experience with C++ programming and Python scripting
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
- Experience in high-performance, multi-threaded, network programming
- Demonstrated success in delivering automated trading systems (preferred)
- Ability to take full ownership of projects (design, implement, test, deploy, maintain)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to coach junior engineers
- Degree in computer science or related engineering discipline
- Experience with financial market concepts, including options trading and engineering
