Vensure Employer Solutions, the largest privately held HR technology and service provider in the US, is seeking a Senior Benefits Specialist to support compliance oversight and administration of its PEO Master Benefit Plans. This is a non-client-facing role that serves as a subject matter expert resource for internal teams on complex regulatory and compliance matters.
You will monitor and ensure ongoing compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), including employer shared responsibility provisions and annual 1094-C/1095-C reporting. You will prepare, review, and file Form 5500 annual reports for master benefit plans, coordinating with third-party administrators, auditors, and internal stakeholders. Your responsibilities include tracking and interpreting federal and state benefit compliance requirements (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA), completing Medicare Part D Creditable Coverage disclosures and CMS reporting, and managing state-specific compliance filings such as Massachusetts HIRD.
As the primary compliance subject matter expert, you will research and respond to internal escalations involving complex compliance questions, providing guidance and documentation to client-facing teams. You will develop, maintain, and update compliance documentation including SOPs, FAQs, compliance calendars, and process guides. Training and mentoring team members on compliance requirements, processes, and best practices is a key part of the role to support consistency and audit readiness.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring legislative and regulatory changes affecting PEO Master Plans and proactively communicating potential impacts to leadership; liaising with insurance carriers, vendors, and legal counsel to resolve plan-specific compliance questions; performing periodic audits of benefit plan compliance data; generating compliance-related reports from Prism; and supporting open enrollment and plan renewal processes by reviewing plan documents for compliance accuracy.
The role requires regular on-site attendance due to secure system access requirements, collaboration on sensitive compliance matters, participation in operational meetings, and hands-on activities that cannot be performed remotely.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree OR equivalent combination of 2–4 years of benefits compliance experience (ACA reporting, Form 5500 filings, ERISA, or related regulatory work). Other relevant non-traditional degree programs, certifications, or job training programs are also acceptable.
- Strong working knowledge of ACA, ERISA, HIRD, Medicare Part D, and Form 5500 filing requirements.
- Analytical and regulatory research skills with ability to translate complex requirements into practical guidance.
- Clear and professional written communication skills for polished materials and effective internal presentations.
- Management and organizational skills, teamwork, enthusiasm, willingness to learn, flexibility, proactivity, and decisiveness.
- Positive, energetic, collaborative style with genuine enthusiasm for compliance work and cross-team partnerships.
