Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Battery Systems Engineer to drive the development of energy storage systems (ESSs) powering next-generation drone products, from concept through full-rate production. You will serve as the primary technical owner of ESS delivery, working on accelerated timelines and acting as the main interface between the Core Battery Group and internal product teams.
Key responsibilities include owning end-to-end battery pack development from concept to production, translating user requirements into actionable ESS specifications, leading battery cell selection using de-risking and validation processes, and partnering with mechanical engineers across design iterations from component testing through production packs. You will support manufacturing ramp-up, directly participate in battery bring-up and vehicle integration activities, and conduct root cause analysis on fielded systems to drive design improvements.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent physical sciences with energy storage focus) plus 5+ years designing, testing, and troubleshooting energy storage systems. You must demonstrate past ownership of battery pack design and prototype assembly, with proven technical contributions delivering systems from prototype to production. Professional awareness of battery management system (BMS) design, algorithms, or validation is required, as is familiarity with battery cell characterization methods or modeling/simulation tools like Matlab/Simulink. Basic CAD proficiency (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks) and understanding of battery safety standards (UN38.3, NAVSEA S9310, UL, IEC) are essential. U.S. Person status is required due to export-controlled information access.
Preferred qualifications include a graduate degree in a related field, familiarity with military standards (MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464), advanced CAD experience with battery pack components, drone/UAV deployment experience, and background in student competition programs like Formula SAE or Hyperloop.
