Vanta is a Series D security and compliance automation platform helping businesses earn and prove trust through continuous security monitoring and verification. The Integrations Platform team powers Vanta's ecosystem of 400+ integrations across cloud providers, identity platforms, MDM, and HRIS systems.
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer on the Integrations Platform team, you will set technical strategy for critical platform areas and design the APIs, primitives, and self-service patterns that internal teams, partners, and customers build upon. You'll own authentication, data-ingestion, and schema-evolution primitives that keep integrations secure and reliable at scale. Your responsibilities include building secure, well-documented, scalable backend services and developer tooling that enhance engineering productivity, driving performance and operational excellence, and mentoring teammates to elevate the engineering organization.
You'll work with TypeScript, React, and Node.js, leveraging AI tools to accelerate development. The role emphasizes technical leadership: you'll make and defend architectural decisions, establish design patterns, build sample integrations and documentation, and influence cross-team decisions. The team's North Star is eliminating barriers to integration building by enabling anyone to create integrations in minutes using declarative, low-code, and no-code patterns enhanced by AI agents.
Success requires 8+ years of backend development building reliable, fault-tolerant systems; deep expertise in platform and API design (REST, GraphQL, OAuth, JWT); hands-on experience building resilient data integrations from external systems; systems thinking at scale; and proven technical leadership. Bonus experience includes startup environments, greenfield work, multi-region deployments, and security/compliance product backgrounds. You should be comfortable using AI to amplify your skills and demonstrate sound judgment in responsible AI application.
