Salary: USD 167,000 - 230,000 / annual

Otter is a software platform that helps restaurants succeed in online food delivery. The company powers delivery operations for major brands including Chick-fil-A, Ben & Jerry's, KFC, and Eataly, enabling them to increase sales, reduce order issues, and streamline delivery logistics. As a Senior Backend Software Engineer on the Marketing/Boost team, you will build the AI-powered platform that automates marketing for restaurant storefronts across delivery platforms. Your work will directly translate merchant budgets and goals into real orders through intelligent campaign orchestration. Key responsibilities include: - Design and build backend services for campaign management, budgeting, and multi-channel pipeline deployment that keeps campaigns synchronized across delivery platforms - Develop the AI-driven Boost engine that analyzes individual stores, selects optimal marketing strategies aligned with their goals, executes within budget constraints, and automatically recalibrates performance - Build durable, reliable workflows for campaign orchestration, budget enforcement, and auto-pause guardrails that operate correctly at scale - Integrate with third-party delivery platform APIs, handling real-world challenges like partial failures, retries, and reconciliation - Own services end-to-end: develop, instrument, debug, and continuously improve reliability and performance You should have strong proficiency in backend languages (Java, Go, Python), solid understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture, experience with databases like PostgreSQL, and proven ability to operate services reliably in production. Nice-to-have skills include workflow orchestration (Temporal, Cadence), event-driven architectures (Kafka), large-scale data tooling, ML systems experience, and cloud platform expertise. The role is based in Seattle with a five-day-per-week onsite requirement. The company emphasizes collaborative environments, continuous learning, and product-minded engineering.
