As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will architect and build the core infrastructure powering Nightfall's platform at massive scale. You'll design low-latency, real-time microservices that detect sensitive data exfiltration and enable automatic remediation. Key responsibilities include:
- Building highly available and secure authentication and API services handling thousands of requests per second
- Maintaining and evolving mission-critical internal databases and services with three-nines reliability
- Optimizing streaming data services to support low-latency AI model inference at scale
- Designing and operating auto-scaling systems that process high-volume data streams
- Instrumenting services for per-customer visibility and cost attribution
- Leading technical design and documentation for internal and public APIs
You should have 5+ years of backend engineering experience with expertise in systems languages (Python, Go, Java, C++). You need proven experience running scalable systems (thousands of RPS) with production-grade deployment, monitoring, and reliability practices. Strong background with distributed databases (MySQL, Cassandra, NoSQL), large-scale data processing pipelines (Kafka, Hadoop, Hive), and ideally experience building agentic AI systems at scale with semantic ingestion, summarization, and parallel orchestration. You should be comfortable decomposing complex problems and leading teams through solutions.
