You will join the Payments Tribe as a Senior Backend Engineer, focusing on architecting and maintaining highly secure, resilient backend services that power seamless financial transactions across the platform. Your primary strength lies in backend architecture, distributed systems, system design, and complex data orchestration using Java and Spring Boot.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and building secure backend services in Java/Spring Boot that interface with payment processors and local financial networks across Latin America
- Ensuring high-availability and asynchronous processing of transaction data with low latency and high success rates
- Developing and maintaining React-based frontend applications and dashboards that consume your backend APIs
- Using AI tools to automate engineering workflows and accelerate delivery
- Leading code reviews, system design reviews, and mentoring junior and mid-level engineers
- Implementing monitoring, logging, and tracing across the full stack for observability and graceful failure handling
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with heavy specialization in backend/systems development
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring ecosystem, with deep understanding of relational databases, concurrency, microservices, and scalable APIs
- 2+ years of commercial React experience with modern ecosystem (Hooks, state management)
- Proven experience designing and consuming RESTful and event-driven services (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Strong testing practices (TDD, JUnit, Mockito) and CI/CD automation (GitHub Actions)
- Demonstrated use of AI tools throughout development (Claude, Copilot, Devin, n8n)
- Working proficiency in English and cross-functional collaboration skills
