GitLab is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Ruby) to join the DAP Repository Flows team within the Duo Agent Platform organization. This team owns two critical areas: DAP onboarding, which helps customers quickly set up projects to use the Duo Agent Platform with minimal friction, and repository and background flows, which encompasses autonomous and scheduled agents that operate on customer codebases.
In this role, you will own features end-to-end, from design through delivery, building agentic experiences on top of the Duo Agent Platform. You'll design and deliver features across DAP onboarding and repository/background flows, build autonomous and scheduled agents that operate on customer codebases, and improve the onboarding experience to help customers get projects configured and productive quickly. You'll collaborate with engineers across the DAP organization on shared interfaces and patterns, review designs and code to contribute to technical quality, and help foster a culture of autonomy, ownership, high-context sharing, and async-first collaboration.
The ideal candidate has strong, hands-on production experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails, experience integrating LLMs into products (product integration, not ML model training), and a track record of building agentic systems—autonomous or semi-autonomous agents that take actions on a user's behalf. You should have a demonstrated ability to design and ship features independently within a collaborative team environment and strong written communication skills to operate effectively in a distributed, async-first setting.
The DAP Repository Flows team is small and distributed with plans to grow. GitLab values autonomy, ownership, and high-context sharing, operating async-first through GitLab issues and Slack. The company is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps, trusted by more than 50% of the Fortune 100 and 50 million registered users.
