Zepz is a fintech company powering cross-border money movement through WorldRemit and Sendwave, serving migrant communities globally. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll join the RemittancePlus team building and operating Universal Wallet—a multi-currency, crypto-capable wallet handling deposits, withdrawals, and balances for millions of customers. This role focuses on high-traffic, money-movement systems where reliability and correctness are critical.
You'll work across a mixed tech stack, primarily Python services and Kotlin/Java (Spring Boot) services, designing and operating REST/gRPC APIs, event-driven systems, and relational databases like PostgreSQL. The role emphasizes platform-level decision-making, code quality, and architectural impact. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers of varying experience levels, and contribute to tooling and pipeline improvements.
Key responsibilities include writing well-tested, readable code; reviewing technical designs and code from peers; improving monitoring and system health using tools like Grafana and Loki; and participating in on-call rotations to respond to incidents and drive long-term fixes. You'll own larger pieces of work, influence roadmap decisions within your team, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
The company values mission-driven builders who are relentless learners, responsible owners, and transparent communicators. Zepz operates on high trust, high ownership, and high performance principles. While the role is remote-capable, regular in-office presence in London is expected, and you should be within commutable distance. The team values async communication, clear documentation, and customer obsession.
