You will own core domain APIs and data models powering the consumer-facing product, working at the intersection of backend infrastructure and product engineering. This is a high-ownership role with a strong bias toward execution.
Key responsibilities include: designing and evolving APIs and data models that underpin the consumer product at scale; developing gRPC/Connect services and real-time streaming systems (including WebSocket-to-gRPC-stream migrations) alongside event and notification infrastructure; partnering directly with frontend, mobile, and product teams to deliver features like personalization, search, and live data feeds; consolidating fragmented services and APIs into cleaner, reusable primitives; and pragmatically balancing technical-debt cleanup with shipping new product surface area under tight deadlines.
You should have backend/product engineering experience designing and evolving domain APIs and data models for consumer-facing products at scale. Hands-on experience with gRPC/Connect, real-time streaming, and event/notification infrastructure is essential. You'll need a track record partnering directly with frontend, mobile, and product teams to ship end-user features, and experience unifying fragmented services into cleaner primitives. Pragmatic judgment for balancing technical debt with shipping under P0 deadlines is critical. Experience at high-growth consumer product companies or marketplaces, and familiarity with cloud environments (AWS/GCP) and containers, are strong pluses.
