Prenuvo is transforming healthcare through proactive, preventive whole-body MRI scanning. The company combines optimized hardware, software, and AI to deliver fast, safe, non-invasive scans that detect health issues early, shifting the paradigm from reactive sick-care to proactive wellness. You'll join the eCommerce team as a Senior Backend Engineer II, responsible for designing and scaling the backend services powering Prenuvo's online booking platform. This role focuses on building reliable, high-performance systems that handle checkout, payments, scheduling, customer accounts, and integrations across multiple countries. Key responsibilities include: - Building and maintaining scalable backend services using Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL - Designing and maintaining APIs for checkout, payments, scheduling, customer accounts, and order management - Integrating with third-party platforms including Stripe, CommerceTools, Salesforce, and Voucherify - Designing resilient distributed systems with robust error handling, observability, and monitoring via Datadog - Optimizing application performance, database queries, and service reliability for high-volume transactional workloads - Writing comprehensive automated tests and contributing to a quality-focused engineering culture - Partnering with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to deliver customer-facing features - Mentoring other engineers, participating in architecture discussions, and driving technical direction Required experience: - 7+ years of professional backend software engineering with Python - Strong REST API development with FastAPI, Flask, or Django - Deep PostgreSQL knowledge including schema design and query optimization - Experience building and maintaining distributed systems and external API integrations - Hands-on cloud platform experience (AWS) and modern CI/CD practices - Strong testing practices with pytest and automated test suite development - Monitoring and observability tools experience (Datadog or similar) - Startup mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, balancing speed with quality, ownership from design through production - Excellent cross-functional communication skills Nice-to-have skills include headless commerce platforms (CommerceTools), payment systems (Stripe, Affirm), async Python development, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Docker, GitHub Actions), scheduling/subscription systems, and healthcare industry experience.
