Wildlife Studios is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to own significant portions of their In-Game Economy platform, which powers purchases, promotions, and rewards across all live games in the studio. You will design and operate backend systems at scale using Go, Kubernetes, DynamoDB, Redis, Kafka, and gRPC. Your responsibilities include architecting services that handle in-game purchases (SKU management, receipt validation, external store integrations), player journey systems, and SDKs that game teams embed. You'll lead technical decisions around architecture, performance, and scalability, with direct accountability for production outcomes. Day-to-day work involves owning complex feature design across mobile and backend, investigating production behavior (latency spikes, scale bottlenecks, provider changes from Apple/Google), improving reliability and cost efficiency, and partnering directly with game teams (Tennis Clash, Zooba, Sniper 3D) to unblock integrations and validate features under real load. You'll participate in on-call rotation, respond to incidents, and raise the bar for engineers around you through code review, design discussions, and technical mentorship. Required: solid experience designing and operating backend systems at scale; demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives; strong hands-on Go skills with comfort in Node.js or comparable languages; practical experience with NoSQL stores (DynamoDB), streaming platforms (Kafka), and Kubernetes deployments; production operations experience with observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, distributed tracing), load testing, and incident response; working English proficiency. Desirable: experience with mobile in-app purchase ecosystems (Apple StoreKit, Google Play Billing, receipt validation, refund/chargeback flows); prior work on SDKs or client-facing libraries consumed by other engineering teams.
