As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will take a leadership role in achieving team goals and contributing to the overall design, architecture, development, quality, and production deployment of backend systems. You'll design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions for complex scenarios that may be consumed by other teams across the organization.
Key responsibilities include collaborating effectively within your team and with cross-functional partners such as Product, Design/UX, DevOps, and other R&D teams. You'll maintain and improve the team's engineering practices by suggesting and implementing technology, patterns, and process enhancements. You'll proactively identify areas of improvement in team systems, processes, and scalability, and lead by example in code quality through significant contributions to code reviews and serving as a focal point for engineering excellence questions.
You'll help monitor production systems, investigate potential issues, and lead efforts to resolve critical production challenges while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
Required qualifications include 6-10 years of backend software engineering experience with demonstrated ability to navigate technical trade-offs and ambiguity. You need strong proficiency in C#, Java, Node.js, or similar object-oriented languages, hands-on experience with SQL Server and database management, and experience with message queues or streaming platforms like RabbitMQ, SQS, or Kafka. You should have experience writing unit tests, strong knowledge of design principles, data structures and algorithms, and familiarity with microservices architecture. A BSc/BE/B.Tech in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent is required.
Desirable skills include practical experience with Agile development methodologies, familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), knowledge of non-relational databases like MongoDB, and experience mentoring new hires and interns.
