N26 is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Payments team within the Everyday Banking domain. You will work on high-volume systems that manage and process all payment and card transactions, directly powering the customer experience for one of Europe's leading digital banks.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with your Tech Lead to architect new features and shepherd them through to completion. You'll design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software in a modern, thriving environment. A key part of the role involves mentoring junior team members by maintaining rigorous code quality standards through pull request reviews and providing guidance. You'll stay current with emerging technology trends and share insights during N26's Get Stuff Done Days (GSDD). Working within a cross-functional team, you'll uphold the highest technical standards across the product.

The role is hybrid, based from either the Berlin or Barcelona office. REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience developing software using a JVM language and Spring Boot in large-scale production systems (Kotlin experience is a plus)
- Sound understanding of microservice architecture
- Knowledge of both relational and non-relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
- Appreciation of modern cloud architecture, preferably AWS
