As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll build core systems powering Mintlify's documentation and AI products. You'll design and ship APIs, content pipelines, and infrastructure serving thousands of customer documentation sites. Key responsibilities include:
- Building backend systems end-to-end: designing, implementing, and shipping APIs and services for the editor, dashboard, and customer documentation sites
- Scaling content infrastructure: improving how the platform ingests, validates, transforms, and publishes content from thousands of customer repositories
- Powering AI experiences: building search, retrieval, and agent infrastructure behind AI products
- Performance and reliability: improving caching, queues, databases, and observability as products and customer base grow
- Shaping product direction and engineering approaches across the stack
You'll collaborate across design and engineering, contribute to product and technical decisions, and take features from development through launch. The team values learning velocity, grit, and unique personalities, with a culture emphasizing slope over y-intercept.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of software development experience
- Strong experience with systems design, API architecture, databases, and production systems
- Strong product intuition; care about the "why" as much as the "how" when building software
- Adaptability and willingness to work beyond backend when needed to ship features
- High degree of ownership; thrive when defining solutions rather than following specs
- Eagerness to talk directly with customers and use insights to shape product direction
