As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll build core systems powering Mintlify's documentation and AI products. Your responsibilities include designing and shipping APIs and services for the editor, dashboard, and customer documentation sites; scaling content infrastructure to handle ingestion, validation, transformation, and publishing from thousands of customer repositories; building search, retrieval, and agent infrastructure for AI-powered features; and improving caching, queues, databases, and observability as the platform grows.
You'll work on technically ambitious backend problems including virtual filesystems, edge caching optimization, and distributed systems. The role emphasizes product intuition and ownership—you'll contribute to product and technical decisions, collaborate across design and engineering, and take features from development through launch. You'll have direct customer contact to inform product direction.

Required: 4+ years software development experience, strong systems design and API architecture skills, production systems expertise, and product intuition. You should be adaptable, willing to work beyond backend when needed, and eager to define solutions with high ownership. Experience with databases, performance optimization, and customer-driven development is expected.
