Salary: USD 160,000 - 220,000 / annual

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will take ownership of different parts of the technical stack, working alongside the CTO on all aspects of current and future product development. You will collaborate directly with the founding team, leveraging your experience to inform decisions across product, technology, and strategy. You will help build the foundation of the company—its culture, processes, and practices—while solving complex, interesting technical problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Writing, reviewing, and shipping production code that drives meaningful customer and business outcomes
- Leveraging generative AI tools daily to improve the quality, speed, and effectiveness of technical and non-technical work
- Taking ownership of software you build, ensuring it delivers value in production and remains reliable and maintainable
- Evaluating and driving technical decisions with a long-term perspective, balancing speed, quality, security, and scalability
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex production challenges while serving as a trusted technical resource
- Learning and adapting quickly to unfamiliar technologies, codebases, and domains using first-principles thinking
- Creating technical champions by building demos, prototypes, examples, and technical content
- Collaborating closely with engineers, designers, sales executives, and other stakeholders in an in-person environment
- Communicating openly, sharing decision rationale, and actively seeking feedback to keep the team aligned
- Championing improvements across the enterprise software development lifecycle
- Operating independently with optimism, accountability, and a willingness to overcome obstacles

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Direct experience with Python, Terraform, and AWS (required)
- Proficiency in backend frameworks and technologies such as Node.js, NuxtJS, Express.js, or Python
- Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or Vercel
- Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C++, or Go
- Hands-on knowledge of RPC technologies and API architectures including REST, gRPC, or GraphQL
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Firebase
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab, or similar platforms
- Experience with source code versioning tools such as Git or Perforce
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed application design
- Familiarity with AI platforms including OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, Vertex AI, Amazon Bedrock, or SageMaker
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale enterprise-grade applications with 99%+ service-level availability
- Advanced proficiency in Python, Terraform, and GCP
