Relativity Space is building advanced rockets, including the Terran R vehicle, to deliver payloads to orbit. The Avionics Test & Operations team is responsible for testing avionics hardware and systems across the entire product lifecycle—from component through vehicle level. As Senior Avionics Test Engineer for RF and Navigation, you will design, develop, and execute comprehensive avionics testing strategies for RF, telemetry, and navigation systems on Terran R. You'll work closely with RF avionics design and software teams to identify issues, troubleshoot problems, and develop automation and testing infrastructure to improve efficiency. Key responsibilities include: - Develop frameworks and infrastructure for qualification and acceptance testing of RF, telemetry, and navigation avionics components (GPS/GNSS receivers, IMUs) at component, subsystem, and vehicle levels - Design test equipment including simulation circuits, RF signal sources, GPS/GNSS and sensor simulators, test harnesses, mechanical fixtures, and validation tools - Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to derive test requirements, develop methodologies, and establish verification strategies - Create and maintain test plans and procedures supporting regulatory compliance with FCC, ITU, and USSF - Integrate, commission, and operate test rack hardware and software for functional testing You bring 5+ years of experience in RF, navigation, avionics, electronics design, simulation, or test. You're proficient with standard electronics test equipment (power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, signal generators) and specialized RF/navigation equipment (spectrum analyzers, SDRs, RF signal generators, GNSS simulators, inertial sensor test equipment). You have hands-on familiarity with GPS/GNSS receivers, IMUs, and navigation avionics testing. A BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field is required. Nice-to-have skills include experience with active RF electronics (PAs, LNAs, transceivers), GPS/GNSS signal simulation and receiver characterization, IMU/inertial sensor testing and calibration, RF/navigation/avionics test system design, and scripting in Python or MATLAB.
