Salary: USD 146,000 - 194,000 / annual

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to design, build, and commission advanced automated manufacturing systems for defense technology platforms. You will own the end-to-end design and integration of automation cells, including robot and cobot applications, conveyance systems, electromechanical assemblies, and automated inspection equipment. Working cross-functionally with product design, manufacturing, industrial engineering, and facilities teams, you'll scope automation requirements, generate detailed 2D/3D CAD models, and ensure compliance with Anduril's rigorous internal standards for requirements definition, vendor management, commissioning, and safety protocols. Key responsibilities include designing production line layouts for new and existing Anduril factories, selecting and integrating robotic systems with path planning and end-of-arm tooling, managing conveyance systems (fixed palletized, AGV/AMR, slat, overhead carrier), and integrating control components such as PLCs, HMIs, safety scanners, and stack lights. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, plus 6+ years of hands-on experience designing and commissioning automated production equipment. You must be proficient in CAD (NX, Solidworks, or AutoCAD), robot/cobot selection and integration, and control system integration. U.S. Person status is required due to export control regulations. Preferred qualifications include 9+ years of experience, advanced NX skills, experience with automated dispense systems, multiple conveyance platforms, control panel design, and MES/QMS integration.
