Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join its Manufacturing Automation team in Costa Mesa, California. The team is responsible for designing, integrating, and deploying automated manufacturing systems across Anduril factories at national scale.
In this role, you will own automation projects end-to-end—from concept and scoping through design, build, commissioning, and production handover. You will design and build automated manufacturing systems to improve production throughput, product quality, and operator safety. Key responsibilities include:
• Own full lifecycle automation projects, managing every aspect from conception to production deployment
• Design, build, and commission automated manufacturing systems including robot/cobot applications, material movement systems, bespoke electromechanical systems, and automated inspection
• Integrate control systems across automation cells, including PLCs, HMIs, machine vision, robotics, and safety systems
• Work with product-specific design and manufacturing teams to scope appropriate automation levels
• Generate 2D and 3D CAD files for automation lines and components
• Collaborate with IE and Facilities teams on production line layouts in new and existing factories
• Enforce and contribute to Anduril's internal processes and standards, including requirements definition, vendor solicitation, commissioning sequences, and safety buyoffs
• Partner with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement
• Serve as technical lead on large-scope, multi-cell automation projects and mentor junior engineers on design and commissioning best practices
This is an opportunity to help define production automation at scale for a cutting-edge defense technology company.
