Innovaccer is seeking a Senior AI Researcher to join its growing AI team and build production-grade AI systems that solve complex healthcare problems at scale. You will work closely with product, engineering, and data teams to design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications including LLM-based solutions, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and intelligent automation workflows. In this role, you will take ideas from paper to prototype to production, building the model layer of real products while choosing appropriate model sizes, composing multiple models into working systems, and maintaining production-level accuracy bars. You will write production Python and PyTorch code with sufficient systems knowledge to optimize training performance, design rigorous experiments with clear hypotheses and ablations, and measure results skeptically—building evaluations before models. You will stay current with AI research literature, distinguishing between techniques with lasting impact and those that won't scale. You will explain your work to non-AI stakeholders including clinicians and operators who provide critical feedback on real-world performance. You should have hands-on experience fine-tuning open-weight models, understanding parameter-efficient versus full fine-tuning trade-offs, and working with modern training and serving stacks (HuggingFace, FSDP/DeepSpeed, vLLM/SGLang). Multi-GPU and multi-node training experience at scale (tens of GPUs minimum, models in the tens of billions of parameters or larger) is essential. You must have shipped models in production and understand what breaks in real deployments. You should have built data pipelines feeding real training runs, including deduplication, filtering, decontamination, and format normalization. The ability to scope ambiguous problems into concrete plans and distinguish research questions from engineering tasks is critical. Mentoring and setting direction for other engineers is a plus and will become increasingly important as the team grows.
