RobCo is building autonomous industrial robotics solutions that combine hardware, software, and AI to automate factory operations. As Senior Applied AI Engineer, you will design and build agentic workflows that power the company's solution delivery process—from requirements review and automated quality gates to risk detection and knowledge management for customer projects.
You'll own the full lifecycle of agentic systems: designing workflows that integrate across the delivery pipeline, building reusable components and patterns for tool integrations and feedback loops, and establishing governance around identity, secrets, and authentication. You'll design human-in-the-loop systems where team feedback continuously improves agent performance through better prompts, evals, and components.
Key responsibilities include building production-grade LLM and agentic systems with tool calling, structured outputs, and multi-step workflows; establishing quality standards through evals, monitoring, observability, and cost management; embedding with delivery teams to understand workflows and identify high-leverage automation opportunities; and driving internal AI adoption by delivering agents through existing tools and establishing best practices.
You bring several years of software engineering experience with proven ability to take ambiguous problems to production systems. You've shipped real LLM-powered or agentic systems (not prototypes) with deep practical experience in orchestration, tool use, MCP, memory, and retrieval. You're skilled at context and prompt engineering, treating prompts as versioned engineering artifacts. You've built knowledge bases and deployed RAG pipelines. You think in systems and outcomes, with a component mindset that considers reusability from the start. You're proficient in Python and/or TypeScript, fluent with SaaS APIs and webhooks, and comfortable with the pragmatism of startup environments. You genuinely enjoy collaborating with non-engineering teams and understanding their actual workflows.
