The Core AI team is building generative AI functionality across Front's product to transform customer support and operations. This Senior Applied AI Engineer role offers the opportunity to get in at the ground floor of this initiative and significantly shape the product direction as the team scales.
You will design, develop, and deploy generative AI applications using NodeJS and TypeScript that enhance product features and user experiences, with a focus on agentic applications to automate resolving customer inquiries. You'll collaborate closely with product teams to identify opportunities for applying generative AI to solve user needs, lead exploration and implementation of state-of-the-art generative AI techniques, and inform AI model training and deployment infrastructure decisions to ensure scalability and efficiency.
Key responsibilities include diving deep into real-world data to ensure high-quality model training and iteration, monitoring and evaluating AI application performance with continuous improvements, and staying current with the latest ML and AI developments to advocate for best practices.
Required: 5+ years of software development experience with strong focus on AI/ML projects; demonstrable expertise developing production applications using LLMs and generative AI models; strong experience with agentic methodologies, prompting techniques, RAG pipelines, evaluation mechanisms, and fine-tuning LLMs; high learning agility; strong communication skills.
Desired: excellent problem-solving abilities; proficiency building production-grade web applications in Python, JS, TS with database systems expertise; ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-experts; deep knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.
Nice to have: specialized ML knowledge (deep learning, reinforcement learning); SaaS or multiplayer application ML implementation experience.
