You will join the Trust & Safety engineering team as a Senior Android Engineer, owning the Android platform for features that impact millions of users worldwide. This team is responsible for building the Trust & Safety platform at Strava, fostering a trustworthy and safe user experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Own Android development on the Trust & Safety team, setting technical direction and shipping features to millions of athletes
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and backend/iOS engineers to build solutions including abuse reporting, privacy controls, and age-appropriate experiences (U18)
- Mentor engineers through code reviews and pair programming, setting quality standards for Android across the company
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate development and shipping velocity
- Grow into backend and frontend work as your scope expands over time
- Work in a hybrid environment (3 days per week on-site in San Francisco)
The role emphasizes a product-focused mindset, end-to-end feature ownership, and collaboration across engineering disciplines.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of production Android development experience using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Proficiency with Coroutines and Room
- Experience designing or consuming REST or GraphQL APIs
- Solid Android fundamentals including architecture patterns, performance optimization, and testing
- Track record of shipping features end-to-end
- Product-focused mindset; ability to solve real business problems, not just execute tickets
- Interest or willingness to grow into server-side and web frontend work as scope expands
