Oura is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join the Health Intelligence Team, which operates within the HealthOS Mission to enable personalized health solutions. The team is at the forefront of integrating Generative AI and LLMs into the Oura experience, transforming how members interact with and learn from their health data.
In this role, you will own AI-powered, member-facing features end-to-end, from early prototyping through production and iteration. You'll develop new features and capabilities using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, ensuring responsiveness, scalability, and alignment with design guidelines. You'll refactor existing features to improve code quality, performance, and maintainability, and ensure high quality through code reviews, automatic testing, and Android engineering best practices.
Beyond feature work, you'll build and evolve shared design-system components and platform foundations reused by other squads. You'll contribute to build tooling, CI performance, and engineering practices that raise velocity across the Android codebase. You'll work closely with a passionate cross-functional team of engineers, designers, UX and product managers.
Oura's engineering organization is distributed across the EU and US, organized into smaller cross-functional, geolocation-specific feature squads with great autonomy. Squads take full ownership of their code and handle everything from concepting and design through implementation, release, maintenance, and bug fixes.
Required: minimum 5 years of professional Android development shipping apps; deep experience with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android architectures (MVVM/MVI); proven experience building complex user-facing features and reusable UI components; collaborative development on complex shared codebases; proficiency with Git and code review workflows; focus on quality with unit, instrumentation, and Compose testing; ability to design performant, reusable, maintainable code; end-to-end ownership mindset; strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills; problem-solving and adaptability.
Desirable: Kotlin Coroutines and Flow; performance profiling and app startup optimization; persistence and data layers (Room, SQLDelight, Proto DataStore); cross-platform experience (iOS or backend); GenAI/LLM-powered product features; design-system or component library experience; Android widgets or platform-surface integrations.
