Zepz is a fintech company powering WorldRemit and Sendwave, enabling cross-border money transfers for migrant communities. The Identity engineering teams (Signup, Authentication, KYC) sit at the front door of the product, serving as the first line of defence for a heavily regulated remittance business.
You'll join as a Senior Android Engineer to modernise the Android experiences that carry millions of customers through onboarding and identity verification annually. Working alongside engineering managers, staff engineers, and cross-functional partners in product, design, and compliance, you'll raise the technical bar on mobile frontend architecture, test coverage, CI/CD, and release practices while shipping features customers depend on to move money safely.
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years shipping production Android applications to Google Play with deep Kotlin expertise
- Fluency across Android UI paradigms (Compose and XML-based) with judgment on modernisation trade-offs
- Strong command of asynchronous and stream-based state management; clear point of view on app architecture (unidirectional state, dependency injection, architectural boundaries)
- Experience in large multi-module builds with layered/clean architecture, shared build logic, and treating build performance as a first-class concern
- Track record evolving large, long-lived codebases; ability to retire legacy patterns without destabilising products
- Rigorous, layered testing strategy; understanding of unit vs. integration vs. on-device testing; designing for testability
- Genuine ownership of delivery pipelines; treating build, test, and release automation as products with reliability standards
- Solid command of on-device security fundamentals: hardware-backed key storage, encrypted local storage, biometric authentication, device/app integrity, code obfuscation
- Experience in regulated/high-compliance environments (fintech, healthtech) with instinct for KYC, authentication, and identity-verification flows
- Confident release management at scale: staged rollout, feature flagging, remote kill-switches, crash/performance monitoring, ANR triage, rollback planning
- Demonstrable experience with device diversity: manufacturer-specific behaviour, background/battery restrictions, minimum-API trade-offs, constrained hardware performance
- Clear, structured written communication; ability to write design documents and post-mortems
- Confidence with open-ended, ambiguous problems; ability to identify real issues and drive resolution
- Experience mentoring engineers
