Oura is seeking Senior Android Engineers (5+ years experience) to join their app development teams building the Oura Ring companion app. The role is fully remote for US-based candidates, with a preference for Pacific timezone. Hybrid and in-office options are available at Oura's San Francisco and San Diego offices.
You will design, build, and maintain high-quality code for features across activity tracking, women's health, member onboarding, and other product areas. You'll work in cross-functional feature squads with full ownership of code from conception through release, maintenance, and bug fixes. Collaboration is key—you'll partner closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, firmware teams, data scientists, and QA to deliver complex mobile features.
Key responsibilities include pushing projects forward through alignment with stakeholders, contributing to technical discussions and code reviews, improving the Android codebase across distributed US and EU teams, and mentoring other engineers.
Required qualifications: 5+ years shipping Android apps professionally; proficiency in Kotlin, modern architectures (MVVM, MVI), RxJava/Coroutines/Flow, Jetpack Compose, and third-party libraries; experience with collaborative development on shared codebases and git workflows; strong CS fundamentals and design patterns; ability to own projects and drive implementation with limited guidance; mentoring capability; Agile/Scrum experience.
Preferred: 7+ years experience; tech lead or team lead background; expertise in Dagger, Realm, SQLite, JNI, PyTorch, TypeScript, Kotlin Multiplatform, BLE, SDK development, functional programming, systems architecture, performance optimization, asynchronous cross-timezone work, firmware collaboration, CI/CD, or health/wellness/wearable domain experience. Bonus: ML algorithms, encryption, data privacy, or C++ familiarity.
