Lightspeed's Data Office is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to design and own the data models that drive decisions across financial performance, go-to-market activities, and product insights. You will partner with stakeholders across Finance, Revenue Ops, Marketing, and Product to deliver the analytics foundation the business relies on. Key Responsibilities: - Design and build data models powering financial reporting (GTV, MRR, revenue recognition), GTM analytics, and product/operational insights - Transform ambiguous business requirements into well-scoped technical solutions with effort estimates - Collaborate across a Hub & Spoke architecture with upstream data owners, downstream Looker/LookML developers, and domain pods - Treat documentation as a first-class deliverable: column descriptions, model contracts, and architectural notes - Diagnose root problems and drive systemic fixes rather than one-off patches - Own pipeline health end-to-end: monitor proactively, lead incident response, surface risks - Mentor junior engineers through coaching, code reviews, and technical sessions - Autonomously manage sprint commitments and contribute to team-level planning Required Qualifications: - Expert-level SQL with query performance optimization and advanced techniques (window functions) - Proven experience designing enterprise-grade dimensional models on BigQuery or Snowflake, including partitioning and incremental patterns - Hands-on experience modeling SaaS/CRM/ERP systems (Salesforce, NetSuite) and translating object models into clean dimensional schemas - Production expertise with Dataform or dbt: materializations, incremental strategies, snapshots, macros - Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders - Security and compliance mindset (GDPR, SOX, data access controls) Bonus Skills: - CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions) - Python or JavaScript for data engineering tooling - LookML or semantic layer experience - Data contracts for pipeline validation - AI/LLM-assisted development workflows - Revenue/finance domain knowledge (ARR, MRR, NetSuite) What You'll Get: - Real ownership of canonical data models used by leadership - Modern, well-maintained stack with active investment in developer experience - High-quality peers who care about craft and code quality - Direct visibility to business impact - Flexible work environment with remote work policies - Equity options, pension contributions, health/wellness benefits, unlimited PTO, parental leave support
