Slide Insurance seeks a VP of Data Analytics Engineering & Governance to lead enterprise data strategy and execution. This role combines technical leadership with executive partnership, requiring oversight of scalable cloud-native data platforms, governance frameworks, and high-performing teams. Key responsibilities include defining and executing a multi-year enterprise data strategy aligned to corporate growth, profitability, and risk management. You will partner with executive leadership to enable data-driven decision-making across underwriting, actuarial, finance, and operations functions. As the senior authority on data architecture, governance, and platform investments, you'll oversee design, build, and operation of cloud-native data platforms and pipelines supporting enterprise analytics and reporting. You will ensure integration of core insurance systems (policy, billing, claims) into a unified, governed data ecosystem and establish standards for modern engineering practices including automation, CI/CD, and data reliability. Leadership of enterprise data governance frameworks is critical—ensuring data quality, lineage, integrity, and appropriate use of data assets while maintaining compliance with public company requirements including SOX controls, statutory reporting, and audit readiness. Operational excellence is essential: implement data observability and quality monitoring, drive efficient cloud resource utilization aligned to budget expectations, and establish service levels ensuring reliability of data platforms supporting business and financial processes. You will advise senior leadership on data-related risks and opportunities, support audit activities, and communicate performance and progress to executive stakeholders. Team leadership is a core component: build and develop high-performing data engineering and governance teams, conduct structured progress conversations, and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings 12+ years of progressive data engineering, analytics platforms, or data architecture experience, with 5+ years of people leadership. P&C insurance experience is required, including familiarity with policy, claims, and financial data domains. Experience operating within a publicly traded company with strong SOX and financial reporting knowledge is essential.
