Via Transportation is seeking a Senior Algorithms Developer to design, build, and scale systems powering their transportation platform. The role focuses on solving complex algorithmic problems in routing, navigation, and distributed systems that impact millions of users globally.
Key responsibilities include architecting and deploying high-performance systems end-to-end, owning features from concept through production, developing concurrent applications in Golang, and implementing geometric and graph algorithms for core product functionality. You'll maintain Python and Java server applications, optimize performance and scalability, and write production-grade code emphasizing efficiency, reliability, and maintainability. The role also involves running benchmarks and analyzing geographical data.
Required qualifications: BSc in Computer Science (or equivalent), 4+ years of hands-on software development experience with languages like Python, Go, or Java, strong grasp of data structures, multithreading, OOP, and design patterns, proven experience building and scaling highly available distributed systems, and solid understanding of system design and software architecture. Advantages include MSc degree, 2+ years professional Python experience, and AWS or cloud platform experience.
