UiPath is hiring a Senior AI Engineer to build the intelligent document processing and context grounding platform powering the next generation of enterprise AI agents. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, developing, and operating highly scalable backend services that enable document understanding, retrieval, knowledge management, and AI-powered automation across the UiPath platform.
You'll own features from design through production, working on systems responsible for document ingestion, parsing, extraction, chunking, embeddings, semantic search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), knowledge management, APIs, AI orchestration, and evaluation pipelines. The role involves solving challenging distributed systems problems—balancing scalability, latency, security, observability, and operational excellence while processing large volumes of enterprise content.
You'll collaborate closely with Product Managers, Applied Scientists, Designers, and fellow engineers to transform AI advances into production capabilities that solve real customer problems. The team values exceptional software engineers who enjoy building production software, solving complex technical problems, learning new technologies, and shipping features that create measurable customer value.
Required qualifications include 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, strong backend engineering expertise with distributed systems, production experience with Python and/or C#, experience designing scalable APIs and microservices, and cloud-native application development (Azure preferred, AWS, or GCP). Highly desirable experience includes generative AI, RAG, LLM-powered applications, semantic search, vector databases, intelligent document processing, OCR, search infrastructure, and knowledge management platforms.
You'll work with technologies including Python, C#, Azure/AWS/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, vector databases, LLMs, and Azure OpenAI. The role offers flexibility in when and where work gets done, with hybrid arrangements varying by team and business needs.
