Blank Street is a food and beverage brand on a mission to become the defining brand of its generation through elevated products and attention to detail. They are seeking a Senior Accountant to help scale their accounting function with rigor, structure, and strong ownership.
You will own core accounting workflows including month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and statutory reporting. Key responsibilities include:
**Statutory and Group Reporting**: Prepare timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under UK GAAP and IFRS. Research, calculate, and document areas of significant judgment and complex accounting treatments. Own intercompany journals and reconciliations across international entities.
**Period-End Close and Balance Sheet Integrity**: Perform period-end close of the general ledger, including journal entries and accruals. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting schedules.
**Day-to-Day Accounting Operations**: Provide operational support including invoice review and vendor issue resolution. Oversee timely and accurate vendor and expense payment processing in line with contractual terms and internal policies.
**Process Improvement**: Develop and maintain documentation for accounting policies and procedures, including internal controls. Proactively evaluate and implement process improvements.
**Tax and Audit Support**: Liaise with internal and external partners to support quarterly and annual tax filings across multiple jurisdictions. Support annual audit and quarterly review processes with external auditors.
**Ad-Hoc Analysis**: Perform research and analysis using information from various systems.
You will partner closely with Supply Chain, Operations, People, and external parties, and report to the Senior Director of Global Finance. This is an in-person role based in the London office.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a mix of public accounting and retail or hospitality environment in UK/Europe
- Professional qualification required: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA
- Strong understanding of both UK GAAP and IFRS accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system
- Experience with Coupa or similar billing and invoicing accounting software
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite, particularly Excel (VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables minimum)
- Ability to identify and solve problems and communicate solutions clearly
- Ability to work independently, own deliverable timelines, and communicate workstream issues
- Team mindset with understanding of cross-functional communication importance
